How to Reach Roorkee

Information for Indian Delegates :
The place is within easy reach form Delhi by road ( 180 km) and is located on Delhi-Hardwar and Delhi-Dehradun bus/taxi routes. Roorkee Railway station is on the main line of Northen Railways having direct links with, on the one hand, Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta and, on the other, with Haridwar, Dehradun and to the states of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Delegates coming via Delhi can board Shatabdi Express from New Delhi Rly. Station at 7.10 a.m. Its arrival time at Roorkee is 10.39 a.m. If informed in advance, the Organisers will arrange to receive the delegates at the Roorkee Rly. Station.

Information for Foreign Delegates :
If informed in advance, the foreign delegates will be received at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi and escorted to Roorkee by car immediately after the arrival.

About Roorkee

Roorkee, a university town, is situated in the state of Uttar Pradesh at the foot-hills of the Shivalik ranges of the majestic Himalayas. On a clear sunny day, Roorkee presents a panoramic view of many a high snow clad peak.
During the month of November, the temperature at Roorkee stands around 10 deg. C during the night and 18 deg. C during the day time. The participants are advised to bring woolens along with them.

Hardwar: 32 km from Roorkee. An ancient and one of the holiest cities of India dotted with numerous temples. Famous for its serene ambience and fascinating view of Ganges.

Rishikesh: 52 km from Roorkee. A city of temples and world famous Ashrams (Hermitages). Here Ganges descends from Himalayas and enters the Gangetic plains. Auli, the winter adventure skiing resort is accessible from Rishikesh by road.

Dehradun: 70 km from Roorkee. Is known for its wonderful landscape and has a large population of Buddhists of Tibetan origin.

Mussoorie: 100 km from Roorkee. Is known as the Queen of hills and is situated at the height of 3500 ft. from the sea level. The town experiences moderate to heavy snow fall during the winter season.
